Shoreline Assessment Mapper - Help
Shoreline Assessment Mapper Overview
This map displays a variety of data in the coastal zone of Virginia. The data layers and their controls are in the right panel, described below. Use the navigation tool bar above the map to zoom in or out, go to the original extent, go to a previous or next extent, and pan across the map. The gray area on the inset map on the lower right shows the area depicted in the map window. You can also pan the map by clicking and dragging anywhere on the map, or by clicking and dragging the gray area within the inset map.
There is a Search tool on the upper left of the map. Type in an address, city, or any point of interest and click the Search icon to zoom to that location. There is a Measure tool on the upper right of the map. Click this to measure a length or area on the map, or to get the position (latitude/longitude) of a point on the map.
Data Layers
The panel on the right displays the list of available data layers. Click the check boxes next to each layer to display them.
First choose one or more of the three base layers on top. The base layers will provide a map reference. These layers, when visible, can each display a transparency slider which allows the user to adjust the transparency to the desired level. Click the right arrow icon to the right of the layer name, if necessary, to display the slider. This is useful when overlaying the base layers on each other.
Below this are the Blue Infrastructure layers and their associated legends. There are two tabs for these layers: Sublayers and Legend. The Sublayers tab is clicked by default and displays the layer list. The Legend tab will display the legends of all visible layers.
Click on the CCRM logo on the upper right to open the CCRM home page.
