Abstract:

The mudflat coverage is a subset of wetlands taken fom the U.S. Fish and Wildlife's National Wetlands Inventory database (NWI). The NWI classification follows the Cowardin Classification. From that database, the following is a list of the attributes selected to designate tidal mudflats:
E2FLM = Estuarine Intertidal Flat Irregularly Exposed
E2FLN = Estuarine Intertidal Flat Regularly Flooded
E2US3N6 = Estuarine Intertidal Unconsolidated Shore, Mud, Regularly Flooded,
Oligohaline
E2US4M = Estuarine Intertidal Unconsolidated Shore, Organic, Irregularly Exposed
E2US4M6 = Estuarine Intertidal Unconsolidated Shore, Organic, Irregularly Exposed,
Oligohaline
E2US4Md = Estuarine Intertidal Unconsolidabred Shore, Organic, Irregularly Exposed,
Partially Drained/Ditched
E2US4Mh = Estuarine Intertidal Unconsolidated Shore, Organic, Irregularly Exposed,
Diked/Impounded
E2USM = Estuarine Intertidal Unconsolidated Shore, Irregularly Exposed
E2USM6 = Estuarine Intertidal Unconsolidated Shore, Irregularly Exposed, Oligohaline
E2USN = Estuarine Intertidal Unconsolidated Shore, Regularly Flooded
E2US4N = Estuarine Intertidal Unconsolidated Shore, Organic, Regularly Flooded
E2USN6 = Estuarine Intertidal Unconsolidated Shore, Regularly Flooded, Oligohaline

Purpose:

This coverage was originally created for use as one of the layers in the Marina Site Suitability Project which modeled potential habitats that might be impacted if marina construction occurred on site.
