 "description": "Shoreline is digitized using the most current imagery available at the time of the inventory. Imagery ranges from 1994 DOQQs to imagery collected as part of the Virginia Base Mapping Program (VBMP). Other imagery (Bing maps, Google Earth) is used to help in areas where VBMP imagery cannot resolve the boundary with a high degree of certainty. This digital shoreline is then used as the baseline for mapping shoreline conditions as part of the Shoreline Inventories. Shoreline (prior to publication year 2015) represents the boundary between land and water. Mapped shoreline b(eginning in 2015) represents the boundary between the water and the upland; or where marshes exist, the upland edge of the tidal marsh.",
