Name: Natural Cover in 100-ft RPA Buffer and FEMA Flood Hazard Area
Display Field: NAMELSAD
Type: Feature Layer
Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolygon
Description: Natural cover/open space areas within the RPA 100-ft buffer and FEMA Flood Hazard Areas. These areas have the potential to be used to generate FEMA CRS credits for localities.
Description: This layer shows areas of natural cover and open space within the 100-ft RPA buffer. Natural cover and open space consists of VGIN Land Use Land Cover classes: wetlands, cropland, pasture, turfgrass, harvested (timbered), scrub-shrub, tree, forest, barren, and open water. It excludes impervious land cover.
Name: Resource Protection Area (RPA) 100-ft Buffer
Display Field: Source
Type: Feature Layer
Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolygon
Description: The RPA buffer is a 100-ft wide buffer landward of RPA features including wetlands and streams connected by surface flow to the Chesapeake Bay and/or tidal shores, except for the City of Virginia Beach and Arlington County, who also include slope variables into the RPA buffer definition. Individual localities' data varies in age and delineation approach. This layer was processed to depict only the 100-ft upland edge of localities' RPA's in order to capture just the 100-ft buffer, not RPA features like wetlands and streams.
A 100-ft RPA buffer was created by CCRM for localities without existing mapped RPA layers. The 100-ft buffer lies landward of RPA features such as connected wetlands and perennial streams.
